Getting to Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury is approximately 3 hours from London, 1 hour from Manchester and 40 minutes from Birmingham.

By train

From Birmingham, Manchester or Chester the journey is around an hour or less (on a direct train) and there is a direct service between Shrewsbury and London. Plan your journey with West Midlands Railway and National Rail journey planner. There is a taxi rank outside of Shrewsbury station.

By Car

From the M6 exit at junction 10a onto the M54 towards Shrewsbury. Follow the M54 until it joins the A5. Follow the A5, then A458 following the signs for the town centre.    

Parking is available throughout Shrewsbury, with 12 Shropshire Council-owned car parks, as well as several smaller privately run car parks and 3 Park and Ride routes. https://originalshrewsbury.co.uk/parking   

There are three Park and Ride sites in:

Parking is free and the return bus fare costs £2 for adults. Buses run every 20 minutes between 7.20am and 6.20pm on weekdays and Saturdays 8am-6.20pm. For more information on the park and ride services, visit the Shropshire Council website.

By Air

Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester airports are all an hour away. Birmingham and Manchester airports are connected to a mainline rail network.

Directions

By car from M6  
Exit at junction 10a onto the M54 towards Shrewsbury. Follow the M54 until it joins the A5. Follow the A5, then A458 following the signs for the town centre. Cross English Bridge and bear left along Beeches Lane which flows into Town Walls. Drive past St. Chads Church (on your right) and down Claremont Bank. Keep in the middle lane at the traffic lights and bear right onto the A458. With the river on your left keep in the right hand lane until the traffic lights (with the Castle in view ahead). Turn right onto the A5191 and travel up the hill. Drive past M & S on your right. Follow the road round to the left into St. Mary's Street with St. Mary's Church on your left. Immediately after the church take a sharp right into Church Street (Note access is granted to the hotel) and then the next sharp right into St. Alkmund's Place.  The Prince Rupert is a short distance on the right.  

Once checked in at Reception directions will be provided to our car park. There is no valet parking – our reception team will kindly provide directions to the car park. A £10.00 car parking charge payable to the hotel on check-in. 

The Local Council has closed some town centre roads including Wyle Cop and High Street between the hours of 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday every week to encourage pedestrian access.  

On foot from Shrewsbury Railway Station 
The Prince Rupert Hotel is a 10 minute walk from  Shrewsbury Railway Station Castle Gates/A5191 Turn left onto Castle Gates/A5191 and Pride Hill, turning left into Butcher Row and continuing onto St Alkmonds Place where the hotel is on the left

Theatre Severn is located next to Frankwell Car Park where charges apply before 6pm. Visit shropshire.gov.uk/parking for further information about parking in Shrewsbury. Disabled parking spaces are available in Frankwell car park between University Centre Shrewsbury and River Severn.

By Train
Theatre Severn is a 10 minute walk from Shrewsbury Railway Station, along Smithfield Road and via Frankwell footbridge or Welsh Bridge.

By Bus 
Theatre Severn is located within a 10 minute walk of Shrewsbury Bus Station, along Smithfield Road and via Frankwell footbridge or Welsh Bridge. Park and Ride is available from Oxon Business Park, Meole Brace Retail Park and Harlescott. Buses run every 10 minutes, Monday to Saturday from 7.30am to 6.30pm.
